Fine
International offers a full range of preheaters
based on different technologies and dependent on
specific application requirements. The
unit’s main purpose is to preheat conductors or
optical fibers just prior to applying the molten
plastic improving the insulated wire/fiber’s
properties. Preheaters
can
be broadly grouped as either contact or
non-contact types referring to whether the
heating element is contacted by guide wheels,
sheaves, etc. during the process. Non-contact
units can be heated through open flame, hot air
or inductive heating. Contact
units are heated through inductive technology. Non
electrical conductive elements (yarns, optical
fibers, etc.) are heated most commonly by
radiant heating systems housed in clam-shell
structures with closed loop temperature control. Simple
open flame preheaters can be used on smaller
conductors and generally lower line speeds. Similarly
although less efficient hot air units can be
used as an option to open flame. All 3
technologies can be integrated with safety
features that remove the heat source during
process upsets or low line speed operation. These
units are custom designed based on specific
applications and Fine International will offer
specialized preheaters meeting customer’s
requirements. Non-contact
and
contact inductive preheaters are most commonly
offered for the broadest range of wire heating. Additional
information
on these units are found in the following links. |
